Part 1: Study Strategies – Personal Reflection

Importance of Study Skills

It’s extremely important to revise what study skills you will want to use, especially before your about to use them.

Scheduling

Utilize a planner or schedule to balance your school and personal work effective. Allow yourself to watch movies or play video games while also finishing all of your work rather than waiting until the last minute.

Study Environment

Your study environment is extremely important, you need it to be quiet, calming, and distraction free

I personally use this study skill quite often. I usually would leave my phone in another room and focus entirely on my school work and finish the assignments I would need to finish

Study Techniques

Use methods like SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) to retain information.

Also taking notes to ensure you retain information is an important technique as well.

Exam Preparation

Use strategies like the “memory dump” technique for exams where you may be writing alot or even if you need to simply remeber stuff.

Writing Skills

Good grammar, punctuation, and clear handwriting are key for a well written essay.

Of these study skills, I would say I use the following 3 skilsl the most:

  • Study Techniques
  • Scheduling
  • Constant Reviewing and Revising

Part 2: Time Management Skills

Part 3: Project Management Basics

The presentations made project management super easy to understand. The “Introduction to Project Management” covered the basics—organizing tasks, managing resources, and staying on schedule—while also stressing how important planning, communication, and flexibility are for success. It’s a great starting point for learning more advanced stuff. The “WBS Masterclass” showed how breaking projects into smaller, manageable pieces with a Work Breakdown Structure can make even big goals feel doable. And the Gantt Chart session? It was all about using timelines to plan and track progress. Together, these tools make projects way easier to handle and keep everything moving smoothly toward the finish line.

Part 4: Previous Capstones Reflection

Vault.js

Vault.js is a software that leverages machine learning and large language models to detect malicious JavaScript in not only source code but also minified code.

I think all in all this project was extremely well done, from idea to examples, this project really targets a problem that many companies are facing in terms of malicious code execution especially on the web.

The presentation itself was extremely professional and technical. The presenter went through a lot of the technical details to explain how exactly Vault.js worked.

The project already has a ton of features and targets a very specific problem, and it targets it really well. I would say this project doesn’t have much to improve on.

Open Energy Dashboard

Open Energy Dashboard is an open-source tool to help organizations reduce their carbon footprint and save money. It allows users to view their energy usage and other resource usage in an easy-to-use interface.

The project is moderately well done. While the interface was lacking and the overall user experience was not as intuitive, the product is after open source.

The presentation was really good, especially the infographics that the presentation used. It felt more like I was watching an actual YouTube video rather than a class demo.

I think the project can definitely be improved to polish all the features and add in a better user-friendly layout.

National AI Campus

The project, although it heavily relied on improvements rather than developments, was very well done. And more importantly, the work that was done was really well done. The model essentially transitions from an older vision model to a more advanced UNET model which helped improved efficiency overall.

I think the project was really well done, especially the fact that this was transitioning an older codebase and model to newer architecture, this definitely took some effort and is really well done.

The presentation was not as enticing as the previous project but was still informative. It did feel repetitive in terms of how many times the word “U-Net” was repeated and what not, but it was still informative, nonetheless.

Part 5: Summary

At the end of the module, I learned that good study habits, like making schedules, creating a quiet space, and using techniques like SQ3R, are super helpful for staying on top of schoolwork. Time management is the key to balancing work and fun. Another really important tool was project management. We went over project management basics, like breaking tasks down with tools like WBS and Gantt charts, to make even big projects feel manageable and help keep everything running smoothly.

    Nasser,
I like that you changed your activity log to 1 hour increments. I kept my activity log at 15 minute increments. I feel like this made mine feel larger than it should have been.

I like that you made sure to include recreational activities in your schedule. Managing your balance between school, work, and your personal life is important.

You have a very thorough learning and time management plan, Nasser!
It’s evident that you take pride in your work and seem very disciplined the way you understand your schedule and adhere to it. Your days are very thoughtful and planned out.
I assume you have a remote job which, if my assumption is accurate, is very convenient that you don’t need to worry about commuting. Also, spending time with your family and alone is a very important choice. Alone time and spending time with quality people is key to keeping you grounded and driven.

Overall, you have a very desirable schedule!
